Purpose: The Fort Davis Higher Education Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the provision of educational scholarships to qualifying Fort Davis Independent School District students at 2 year, 4 year, or technical/trade schools, and for educational/instructional support of current Fort Davis ISD students and staff.
Fort Davis Education Foundation
The Fort Davis Higher Education Foundation was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in October 2002. It provides financial assistance to all graduates of Fort Davis High School who have attended the high school for a minimum of four semesters, including the entire senior year, and who enroll in college or a trade school. (Should a graduate choose to enter the U.S. military immediately after graduation and subsequently receive an honorable discharge, the graduate remains eligible for the aid for 6 years from the date of his/her graduation). The current scholarship is $1,000 for the first semester, and an additional $1,000 for the second, third, and fourth semesters, provided the student the minimum requirements.
The Fort Davis Education Foundation is also referred to as the "Fort Davis Higher Education Foundation," with the two names used interchangeably. The organization is frequently referred to as the "Education Foundation" in conversation and other correspondence.
The Education Foundation is fully engaged in offering post-secondary scholarships to qualifying FDISD graduates AND in offering supplemental funding support to current FDISD students and staff via classroom grant requests and disbursements. The Education Foundation establishes three grant periods each school year and considers staff requests for funding to support instructional and extra-curricular activities. The Education Foundation also considers special requests for funding support near the end of each school year, which may involve activities that extend beyond the normal school year calendar (such as funding travel and fees to participate in the National History Fair in Washington, D.C.).
The foundation would like to insure the program's continuation, so it is seeking tax-deductible donations to increase the size of its endowment. Such donations may be made payable to the foundation and sent to:
